I am having a fan art contest!
I plan to release a special fan art edition of my young adult fantasy novel Love, Treachery, and Other Terrors which could include YOUR illustrations!
Awesome! How do I enter?
Step 1: Read Love, Treachery, and Other Terrors. (Note: It may be available at your library.)
Step 2: Create art based on any scene that inspires you! Use any style you want. Part of the fun of fan art is seeing how different artists interpret the story. Keep in mind though, that any illustrations inside the book will be printed in black and white.
Step 3: Fill out the entry form and submit your art by May 20th, 2023.
How are the winners picked?
I will be looking for art that is fun, beautiful, and captures the characters or scenes well. In addition, I would like to put one picture in each chapter of the book. So if I have multiple pictures of a single scene, I may select only one even if all are good. Pictures I like that don’t make it into the special edition will be posted on my website and social media and I will give the artist a shoutout.
Is there a prize?
If I sell less than 1000 copies in the first 6 months after publishing, there won’t be a monetary prize, but the winning illustrators will get their art included in the special edition and shared on my website and social media.
If I sell 1000 copies of the special edition in the first 6 months after the publication date, the prize will be 25 dollars for each winning artist. If a single artist has more than one piece of art in the special edition, he or she will get 25 dollars for each of their included pictures.
If I sell 3000 copies of the special edition in the first 6 months after the publication date, the prize will be 50 dollars for each winning artist. If a single artist has more than one piece of art in the special edition, he or she will get 50 dollars for each of their included pictures.
If I sell 5000 copies of the special edition in the first 6 months after the publication date, the prize will be 100 dollars for each winning artist. If a single artist has more than one piece of art in the special edition, he or she will get 100 dollars for each of their included pictures.
If I sell 8000 copies of the special edition in the first 6 months after the publication date, the prize will be 200 dollars for each winning artist. If a single artist has more than one piece of art in the special edition, he or she will get 200 dollars for each of their included pictures.
If I sell 10,000 copies of the special edition in the first 6 months after the publication date, the prize will be 400 dollars for each winning artist. If a single artist has more than one piece of art in the special edition, he or she will get 400 dollars for each of their included pictures.
The prize caps at 400 dollars.
