Fan Art Contest: Scallywag or Scoundrel

Arghhhhh Scallywags! We want to see your Artttttt!

We are in dire need of an illustration to put in the back of the upcoming print edition of Scallywag or Scoundrel! So we are running a fan art contest!

Deadline: Sunday, June 28th

Winners: Three winners will be chosen by Katharine and Emily

Prize: Three winners will receive a signed copy of the print edition (winners outside of the United States/Canada will receive a signed bookplate in lieu of a physical copy because shipping is expensive).

Grand Prize: One of the three winners will get their artwork memorialized in the back of the print edition!

What you need to know:

  • Art should feature a scene, character, or at least be somehow related to our book Scallywag or Scoundrel .
  • Any level of art prowess is appreciated!
  • Any type of art medium is appreciated! Want to make a Scallywag-inspired cake? Go for it! Crochet a plushie of the Baleacanis? Do it! Want to make a giant blue beard out of blue photos? Emily already did that one, but you can do it too!
    • P.S. Pictures of all your creative artworks are welcome, but only illustrations can be printed in the back of the book because cake frosting will make the pages sticky.
    • P.P.S. The book interior will be printed in black and white, so while you are encouraged to make your art in all colors, the printed version will be black and white.

Rules:

Participants under the age of 18 must get permission from their parents to participate.

Please make this art yourself. No AI.

The book is family-friendly, so your art should be too! We will not be resharing anything that is too violent or scandalous (Keep it PG appropriate or less, please).

Prizes will only be shipped within the United States and Canada (We would love to send winners outside of this region a signed bookplate and personal note as that is less expensive to ship).

There is no compensation or monetary payment for any of the winners.

By participating in this contest, you are giving Emily Deady and Katharine Campbell permission to publish your submissions on social media and their websites, as well as in the print book itself. All artwork will be credited to the original artist with whatever name or social media handle you request.

Winners will be chosen by Emily and Katharine (we will try not to be biased toward the submission that we already received from Katharine’s daughter, but that will be difficult because she did an excellent job).

To submit, please click the button below to email your art to Katharine! Include your name, a link to your social media handles and/or online gallery, and anything else you would like to tell us about the art!

Thanks for participating and good luck, everyone!
